Bio
If you want to see some of my artwork you can check it out by clicking view all userpics under my photo, or by going to my website at saatchi-gallery.

I was born in Portland, Oregon and am considered to be a self-taught artist, drawing from a natural ability as a third-generation artist and painter. At the age of eight, using left over oil paints from my mother's palette, I did my first oil painting of a baby duck .I also spent summers with my “Edwardian” Grandmother doing ceramic and china painting.
I left school early but continued my interest in art. Through my studies of art I learned the history, math, and science lessons most students learn in structured education. My favorite artists use oil and I still prefers the aroma, texture, and flexibility of oils for most of my work.
Today I am living in a rural city, which enables me to work with a respect for nature. I grow many of the flowers I paint and you can find my house and yard in several scenes. I paint the places and people around me and record the beauty of the places we visit as a family.
For approximately the past ten years, I have been led to study the artwork of the Pacific Northwest Coast Indians. Although I have only been studying the form a relatively short time I try to bring new design ideas and meaningful expression into the modern world of the totemic curvilinear style.
Throughout my life I have been involved with art in many ways. I have studied art, done artwork, taught classes for children and adults, designed commercial art for businesses, shown artwork in shows and galleries, and volunteered at local schools. I have been a member of art clubs, art guilds, art committees, and count-ywide art survey projects. I have served as President, Vice-President, Chair, and Historian in many different organizations. I have also participated in untold number of juried and judged shows, displays, exhibits, auctions, fund-raisers, and fairs. In one-way shape or form I have helped receive art, hang art, and promote art in my home community for over 30 years. I have received many honors and awards for my artwork, been chosen as cover artist for shows, and have had my work collected in various private collections throughout Oregon and the Northwest.
